A CIA plane used to abduct suspected terrorists for torture in other countries landed in Copenhagen in March.

Frank Aaen, Danish MP for the Red-Green Alliance, party spokesperson on defence issues and member of the Foreign Policy Committee, is calling the Conservative Danish foreign minister to explain what the plane was doing in Copenhagen.

According to the Norwegian paper Aftenbladet, the foreign minister originally refused to put a stop to overflights of CIA abduction planes, stating that they were not in contravention of Danish law. He has recently told the American authorities that Danish airspace may not be used for purposes that are in contravention of international conventions. [But who knows how the US will interpret that?]

The minister for the Environment, Noel Dempsey, has appointed Peter Cassells to be the official mediator in the dispute between the consortium intent on building an experimental gas pipeline in Mayo, and local residents who fear for their safety if such a plan goes ahead.

I'd like to know more about Media Lab (MIT). I thought MLE had shut down on Jan 14th this year through lack of funding.

Luckily, I recorded a lecture given by Gary McDerby (Principal Rsearch Scientist at Media Lab Europe) in April 2004, and what I heard, I found to be disconcerting

The number of American soldiers to have died in the war in Iraq has now hit 2,000. It is reported that more than 1,500 events have been held across the United States (united by what? we might ask). Spirits were high at the peace vigil outside the Four Courts today. We hung chime bells from the tree outside the courts as an act of solidarity with the "100,000 Rings" Bell Ceremony. 2 weeks ago the homeless took to the streets with tek tools supplied by friends- they set up their own street radio, they talked on the streets, people listened, things are changing

result- after 3 of the lads, chris, eddie and barry appeared on RTE's the big bite, the lads have been offered a HOME by an elderly dublin woman
it has been emotional for people to see results from the action
