Peaceful, non-violent protest is the only alternative to violent protest. People like me have been advocating such peaceful non-violent protest, and now that it is being used, I for one welcome it.
If the police or Gardaí don't respect it, this is serious for them.
I would advise that all incidents of police or Garda brutality or stepping beyond their powers in any way be catalogued in a spirit of co-operation between all groups, political, non-political, nationalist, anarchist, republican, unionist, prisoners of all hues, throughout the whole island of Ireland.
I must also add that what is good for the goose is good for the gander and all acts of brutality on people in their homes, in public or hidden places or in custody by any group or persons who believe they have the authority to act as an alternative police force should also cease immediately and non-violent pressure should be brought to bear on the perpetrators from inside and outside their groups.
