I'd like to know more about Media Lab (MIT). I thought MLE had shut down on Jan 14th this year through lack of funding.

Luckily, I recorded a lecture given by Gary McDerby (Principal Rsearch Scientist at Media Lab Europe) in April 2004, and what I heard, I found to be disconcerting

Spirits were high at the peace vigil outside the Four Courts today. We hung chime bells from the tree outside the courts as an act of solidarity with the "100,000 Rings" Bell Ceremony. 2 weeks ago the homeless took to the streets with tek tools supplied by friends- they set up their own street radio, they talked on the streets, people listened, things are changing

result- after 3 of the lads, chris, eddie and barry appeared on RTE's the big bite, the lads have been offered a HOME by an elderly dublin woman
it has been emotional for people to see results from the action
