In the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Galway today, the Patron Saint banished the war criminal Bush from Ireland’s shores. That was the theme of the Galway Alliance Against War float. A snake with George Bush’s head was pursued through the streets of Galway by a peace loving St Patrick. And the crowd applauded in support of St Paddy.

Rosemary Nelson Reminder

Today, March 15, is the fifth anniversary of the murder of human rights lawyer Rosemary Nelson. Rosemary was a good friend of the PFC and a fine and brave human rights lawyer. Her loss was felt acutely across Ireland and beyond but nowhere more so than among her immediate family. We remember Rosemary today.

In the High Court this morning lawyers for the British Government announced that Judge Cory's reports into the murder of Rosemary Nelson, Pat Finucane, Robert Hamill and Billy Wright will finally be published by the end of March. A Bord Pleanala Oral Hearing (Reference PL 07.205181) relating to a planned rubbish dump in Kilconnell was heard earlier this week in Oranmore, County Galway.

Efforts to have a Euro50,000 bribe offer (to the Anti-Dump Chairman) brought before the hearing were blocked.
