NIO stooge John Spellar given his third by-pass treatment.

PFC activists again disrupt opening of by-pass by NIO minister who helped let McBride murderers walk

Rosemary Nelson Reminder

Today, March 15, is the fifth anniversary of the murder of human rights lawyer Rosemary Nelson. Rosemary was a good friend of the PFC and a fine and brave human rights lawyer. Her loss was felt acutely across Ireland and beyond but nowhere more so than among her immediate family. We remember Rosemary today.

In the High Court this morning lawyers for the British Government announced that Judge Cory's reports into the murder of Rosemary Nelson, Pat Finucane, Robert Hamill and Billy Wright will finally be published by the end of March. (see www.serve.com/pfc for background on Cory and Rosemary Nelson)

Main Story:

Northern Ireland Office Minister John Spellar MP was reminded of his appalling role in reinstating two murderers in the British Army when he opened a new by-pass at Toomebridge on the main Derry to Belfast road at lunchtime today. (Mon 15 March) Members of the PFC greeted the NIO Minister with placards as he emerged from a local restaurant where he had addressed local representatives. Soon after and half a mile away the placards highlighting his involvement in the Peter Mc Bride case again formed the backdrop as he cut the ribbon on the new bridge over the river Bann at Toome. Spellar sat on the Army Board which ruled that Guardsmen Wright and Fisher could remain in the British Army despite their conviction for the 1992 murder of Belfast teenager Peter Mc Bride.

Since Spellar was appointed NIO Minister the PFC has sponsored SpellarWatch in an attempt to track any public engagements that the Minister may be involved in. If we receive a minimum of advance warning we will try to show up and disrupt the event. All pickets are peaceful and dignified. As a result the NIO has been reluctant to arrange any public events with the Minister for some time now.

SpellarWatch

SpellarWatch is your opportunity to show your support for the Mc Bride family. If you are aware of any public events that Spellar will be attending in the near future, any functions, launches, dinners or conferences please contact SpellarWatch at [email protected] or leave a message at 02871 268846
If there is a picket and you wish to be on the SpellarWatch picket list email us.
