According to former soldier and syndicated journalist Brian Cloughley, The 3rd Infantry division has gone on a pillaging spree in Baghdad airport taking comfy seats, breaking windows in the terminal, taking what they want and leaving it in a state that "would make the Aegean Stables look like a Tiffany’s window." In an article in the Daily Times of Pakistan, he compares and contrasts their oafish looting and destruction to Mary's action -which involved no theft. ... read full story / add a comment

There was a hearing today in the High Court to set a trial date for the Catholic Worker 5 as a result of their action at Shannon Airport last February. However as the gardai had not yet completed the preparations for the prosecutions the hearing was adjourned until October with no date set for the trial. Before today's hearing there was a demonstration in support of the group. It started at the Spike and then moved single file to the Four Courts. ... read full story / add a comment

Hi all, Was at the Dublin bus meeting in Liberty hall last night. It was well attended with not only bus drivers and members of political groups but also some customers of Dublin bus who are worried about how the change will affect their lives. There was lots of fighting talk directed towards Seamus Brennan and the government in general. We have a Taoiseach who says he is against privatisation and is pro union, yet every day there seems to be new developments and new legislation from the government that suggests exactly the opposite. ... read full story / add a comment

This crude intimidation provides further evidence of the FARC's ideological disarray and moral bankruptcy. ... read full story / add a comment |
