There was a hearing today in the High Court to set a trial date for the Catholic Worker 5 as a result of their action at Shannon Airport last February. However as the gardai had not yet completed the preparations for the prosecutions the hearing was adjourned until October with no date set for the trial. Before today's hearing there was a demonstration in support of the group. It started at the Spike and then moved single file to the Four Courts. ... read full story / add a comment

Hi all,

Was at the Dublin bus meeting in Liberty hall last night. There was lots of fighting talk directed towards Seamus Brennan and the government in general. We have a Taoiseach who says he is against privatisation and is pro union, yet every day there seems to be new developments and new legislation from the government that suggests exactly the opposite. ... read full story / add a comment

The research says sea level rises, coupled with predicted increases in the frequency of extreme weather events, will make low lying areas extremely vulnerable. ... read full story / add a comment

Aware that they would receive perhaps 2% of the vote if they ran for election in Colombia, FARC's answer is to threaten to kill decent men and women who have the guts to seek a mandate from the people. This crude intimidation provides further evidence of the FARC's ideological disarray and moral bankruptcy. ... read full story / add a comment
