Last Saturday Galway Alliance Against War protested against the torture of Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison, with one of their activists dressed up as a torture victim. The response was positive and powerful, particularly with passing Americans. Last weekend a Cork anti-war activist hoisted an Iraqi flag on a pole in his back yard overlooking the exclusive Hayfield Manor Hotel where EU health ministers and the US health minister Tommy Thompson were due to stay for a health summit last week. Within hours the flag was removed.
