US to increase forces in Iraq

category international | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Tuesday May 18, 2004 09:42author by Hilal Report this post to the editors

While the US is pretending to be commencing a disengagement from Iraq it turns out they are in fact building up their forces and digging in .

A nationwide call-up has commenced today for over 118,000 "Ready Reserves" or IRR's who have not fully completed their eight-year contractual obligation to the US Army from previous times. Notice is being sent to these IRR's today and it is a "desertion " charge to refuse the call-up.

Command Sgt. Maj. Luis A. Garcia of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division worte in a May 13th e-mail to garrison sergeants:

"Call-ups will begin 18 May. The Army is looking for 8,000 soldiers to volunteer at first. After 18 May, separated soldiers may be located and called up INVOLUNTARILY. These people will be activated and ordered to report to any ARNG [Army National Guard] or USAR [US Army Reserve] unit that needs them."

The IRR troops are ,"......to be activated in support of missions in Iraq"

4000 U.S. troops stationed in South Korea are being moved to Iraq.

Iraqi Resistance are waiting patiently. Bring it on George !

what chance would they possibly have against North Korea?

Maybe the U.S. military isn't so awesome after all and they have to pick fights on 'defenceless' countries to make them look like they're powerful..
typical bully behaviour right to the letter.

When have the American military faced a strong adversary since WWII. Had to use its nuclear Viagra to 'stay the course' in WWII, and since then the North American Empire always chooses to fight third world peasant populations, often using proxy forces.
And even in full open conflict against poorly armed peasants theyre not guaranteed a win (Vietnam).
Ha
And they still think that all the expensive overdesigned firepower at their disposal will succeed in 'defeating' people who will not give in.
Wars are won when the population you aim to subjugate eventually accept your terms, thay have to find life under occupation more comfortable than death under occupation. This is why Israel/palestine rages on, and why Iraq has only begun. They would rather die than be subjected to the violence and humiliation of an American occupation.

check out the list: A century of American Military interventions. Pay special attention to the predominance of third world countries, and the repeated threatening of virtually unarmed civilian populations with weapons of mass destruction including Nuclear weapons.
Who is the real aggressor? there is only one in my mind. The American Empire , stealing from the poor to feed the rich and lazy.
Whoa there, I cant say that without including a mention to the good old european ex-colonial states, but thats just the point, when colonialism was being abandoned across the globe, the new anmerican empire stepped in to take over, and stamp out anyones intentions iof working towards a better more equtable future. Not when theres profits to be made and third world commodities to be stolen from the poor. Thats what the people of the world are so piseed off about, Our (the world's) chances of peace and reconcilliation are being Pissed all over by the Bush Nazi Junta , and for what...PROFIT. Just to make a buck. Bastards.

Unfortunately this is not a simple rotation switching out. These people are not called up under normal circumstances.
