Of course ... EU Parliamentarians have NO power in this area. Due to the Treaty Of Nice, the EU Commission asks the EU Council of Ministers for permission to negotiate intellectual property issues (eg: GMOs) at the WTO, a qualified majority of Ministers says ‘yes’ and off they go - no legal requirement to inform the public of content of negotiations, no legal requirement for EU Parliament to vote on EU-WTO GMO issues.
