Last Saturday Galway Alliance Against War protested against the torture of Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison, with one of their activists dressed up as a torture victim. The response was positive and powerful, particularly with passing Americans. Last weekend a Cork anti-war activist hoisted an Iraqi flag on a pole in his back yard overlooking the exclusive Hayfield Manor Hotel where EU health ministers and the US health minister Tommy Thompson were due to stay for a health summit last week. Within hours the flag was removed.

The video footage is of the black bloc trying to force their way through gardai lines. As you see it is quite 'fluffy' and looks a bit like a friendly 'mosh'. It was shot with my arm over the shoulder of a garda which is why it sometimes looks almost as if the camera is behind police lines. ... read full story / add a comment
