It seems that we may never be told the full story of what the state (belatedly and begrudgingly) found out from their investigations on GAMA. The High Court has decided that the report cannot be published. I bet that will come as a relief to some people in SIPTU HQ!

Remembering the balls-up that was made of the search on Brian Curtin's house, I find it somewhat disquieting that the investigation by the Dept. of Enterprise was done "unlawfully". It seems awfully convenient.

Tallon was charged with this offence over a year ago but the jury were unable to reach a verdict.

There still are a number of outstanding charges aganist protestors and several civil cases aganist the Garda, sources assure us that the garda will settle the majority of civil claims out of court. ... read full story / add a comment

While national governments within the EU, and the EU Commission itself, have the legal right to say ‘yes’ to the planting of Genetically Modified Organisms (i.e. GMO crops), it remains the case that ‘regions’ - in Ireland’s case this would be both counties and provinces - have the right to hold referendums and ban GMOs. This process has now started in Ireland with 1,000 GMO-Free Zones being declared by the GM-free Ireland Network. It is a massive first step. ... read full story / add a comment

From fast food outlets, to assembly lines, from corner shops to hyper markets there is one common relationship. That is the relationship between boss and worker. Those of us that have to sell our time as workers enabling us to pay rent, buy food and engage in leisure activities have nothing in common with those who buy our time. Those of us that sell our time are the employee class. Those that buy our labour are the employing class. These two classes have nothing in common. ... read full story / add a comment
