... read full story / add a comment

TUI Congress Delegates Organize Solidarity with teachers and Schools in Iraq There was a standing ovation for Nuria Mustafa, an Iraqi citizen, when she addressed the TUI Congress in Ennis on Tuesday 22nd April. Nuria was invited to speak at a fringe meeting by Dublin City post primary delegates. An Irish pub in Afghanistan has been shut down, just weeks after it opened. The Irish Club in the capital Kabul was the country's only bar. It shut down after receiving warnings it could be the target of a terrorist attack. News of the threats were passed onto the owner by the US Embassy and the UN, which also banned its staff from visiting. A UN official said if someone were to bomb it, the entire international community could be wiped out in one night. The bar will remain shut for at least a week. ... read full story / add a comment

‘our mayday’ The tradition of mayday has always been about the celebration of life, a way of people coming together all over the world, taking over public spaces, a day of defiance against authority. Mayday is a chance for us to connect our struggles with the struggles of others globally, a day when we can collectively voice our opposition to exploitation, the repression of our desires and dreams, to create a new world, a stateless world, a world without capitalism... ‘our kitchen’ is a weekly gathering for people who want to change the world. It is an opportunity to network with individuals & groups involved in anarchism, environmentalism, peace activism & a whole host of other non-hierarchal stuff. It takes place every Wednesday at 7pm in the Resource Space downstairs in Giros & is followed by enter/infotainment with great veggie food in the cafe upstairs. Your welcome to come along & get ... read full story / add a comment
