I ran into it getting off the bus, coming back from a ...protest...? Looked fun. Some guy towards the end outside the GPO got a little carried away with the road rage.
Have to get my bike sorted for next month.
Nice one lads!

Bikes Not Bombs # 2

Marred by the vicious cycle of rain, rain & more rain only 7 people made it to today’s bikes not bombs critical mass in Belfast. But undeterred the magnificent 7 decided to go for a cycle anyway & took over the Belfast streets with 3 lanes of traffic having to slow down & chill out in their wake. Rather than being disappointed at the low turnout we found today to be testimony that a small group of people can make a big impact & have a lot of fun. The sun even peeked out for a few seconds…

Get some rain gear for next month…

That a small group of people can make a nuisnace of themselves and harass ordinary people who are trying to go about their business.

These sort of people are such a pain in the ass.

this Josef character seems to be against everything I am for!! What a creep.
I always seem to miss the great bike ride at the end of the month. Determined to go on it some day.
How can I be reminded at the end of each month?

Critical Mass??????????????
Yeah, right, I bet the ruling class is quivering at the sight of 7 hippies cycling through the streets of Belfast!
Workers of the world, Throw off your stablizers!, you have nothing to lose but your dignity!

Eh, what has Critical Mass got to do with showing the "ruling class" anything? The "ruling class" is hardly likely to be upset by Critical Mass given that the cyclists involved are simply exersizing their legal rights as road users. Wow yeah, two-wheeled traffic using the roads they've payed for with their taxes, mega-revolutionary concept. Duh?

As for losing dignity - you can't really get more undignified and daft looking than the majority of Dublin car users. After all they've shelled out thousands on a metal box which travels at slower than walking pace when they need it most, during so-called "rush" hour. Rush hour on their way to work. Working so they can pay off the loan on the pointless "status symbol" metal box. Haha, I love whizzing past the status lemmings in their depreciating metal assets - on my bike, a method of transport they choose to look down on as plebian, and which costs me less to run per year than the overpriced sambos the lemmings buy at lunch every day.

Come to think of it most of the ruling class are themselves car lemmings - and worse. For example Bertie Aherne spends tens of thousands of taxpayers money flying the government jet from Baldonnel to Dublin Airport, just because he can't be arsed travelling out to Baldonnel to get on the jet.

all his/her comments are of the kind we used see from King Mob.
Critical Mass is a noble exercise.
by I daresay Noble people.
Now I as some of the keen readers will know am in teh grips of a three day long trip caused by eating the plant leaves, root and bud instead of only smoking the leaves. [the psychoactive gardener told me afterwards], this trip has brought me through a lot of weirdness and a continious reflection on the anomolous work of Myles na Gcopoleen in whose work "the third policeman" the bicycle is given the noble place it deserves.
Go on Critical Mass heads do your bikey thing.
meanwhile in Malmo Sweden Reclaim the Streets heads are partying into the sunset.

Isn't it obvious I'm talking about motorists?

It's so cheap. bit it still gives me the creeps. Shows what kind of people are involved in these "grassroots" movements. Truth is no impediment, neither are the wishes of ordinary decent people.

What is it, Josef, if that's really you, do you think they fall from outer space or are some kind of lunatic fringe?

I'm still here Iosaf.

And I was at the critical mass, so nuts to you.
