Kerry is America's oldest friend, and a true one at that. When the first Kerry man, Brendan, set foot in America circa 575 AD it created a unique link between the lands and a close bond between their peoples. Over the centuries millions of Kerry people have journeyed across the atlantic to our western neighbour, America. These people and their descendants played a hugh part in the building of that great nation, that land of freedom. Also, over the years, millions of Americans have come to visit Kerry the land of their ancestors.
Recently, we in Kerry have become concerned about what is happening across the water. It appears that America is currently ruled by a president and political regime who both lie to, and, manipulate our American friends. This results in restriction of freedom and human rights. Also, by lying to other nations, violating and ignoring international laws, treaties and conventions, America's respect and credibility around the globe is waning. ... read full story / add a comment

On 14 October the Forum on Europe heard an address by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan who had come to speak about planned reforms to the United Nations. All Party leaders were allowed to address comments to Kofi Annan. The following speech was made by Joe Higgins. Annan, reflecting the arrogance of all diplomats and members of the political elite these days, did not answer any of Joe’s questions or refer to any points made in his speech in the summation given to the Forum. ... read full story / add a comment

Yesterday, Mary represented herself in court and asked that a translator of german be provided for one of her witnesses and that her right to a "Mc Kenzie friend" be recognized - both her requests were acquiesced to. Today, once the jury is sworn in, the trial proper should start - we urge all people of conscience, who are not prepared to take the lies and criminal collusion of our government with Bush & co, anymore, to get themselves to Ennis court to protest, protest, protest and support her ?. ... read full story / add a comment

With all the fuss over Justin Barrett not speaking at U.C.D. and then speaking at N.U.I.G. I decided to have a look at some of the websites frequented by fascists in Ireland and see what type of people hung out there. In one thread on the Irish Nationalist website someone identified themselves as having worked on Justin Barrett’s election campaign, another as a justin Barrett supporter and someone else gave the user name of the nazi skinhead who got into a fight at the back of the lecture theatre when Barrett tried to speak in U.C.D. By going through these sites i hoped to learn more about the kind of people who support Justin Barrett and the type of people who will turn out and watch him speak. ... read full story / add a comment

A group of us in Cork decided to do something to mark international anti-mcdonalds day, and so the day before we collected food to be thrown out from local supermarkets and bakeries. The next morning we met up at a friends house and struggled with our cooking skills, and managed to whip up sum vegetable soup, and vegi burgers and hummous, which we then distributed with with bread and fruit outside our local mcdonalds. ... read full story / add a comment
