STATE OF PLAY - Well it 's 18 months since we managed to disable a U.S. Navy war plane at Shannon Airport. The plane was the only piece of military equipment turned around by the international peace movement and sent back to Texas. Meanwhile we were sent to Limerick prison. Initially denied any bail at all, we eventually had very restrictive bail conditions imposed - a ban from County Clare, a ban from a mile radius of the U.S. Embassy & signing on at a specific Garda Station daily. ... read full story / add a comment

This year's Twelfth of July celebrations were the best I have seen for some time and having listened to various reports from different parts of Northern Ireland everyone seems to be of the same frame of mind. Bandsmen and women along with Orangemen and women perfectly turned out marching along to lively tunes celebrating their culture and heritage sending out a very clear message that this is a day everyone can join in and enjoy. ... read full story / add a comment

The Irish government is now threatening to deport immigrants on the grounds that their marriages to Irish citizens have broken down. Women who have worked legally in the republic for several years face being kicked out of the country because their partners have left them and their children. Notices of deportation were served within days of the Citizenship Referendum restricting access to Irish passports for the children of immigrants born on the island after 1998. ... read full story / add a comment

Greg Palast the investigative reporter and author of The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, carried this story for the BBC television show Newsnight and The Guardian newspaper in the UK back in 2000 and goes as far as to have in his possession two computer discs contains the 97,000 names of mostly Democrat-voting African-Americans which were illegally removed by the office of the Secretary of State of Florida from the Florida electoral roll. The list was so faulty that Mr. Palast even interviewed an conviction-free electoral returning officer whose name was purged from the electoral roll. Palast will also be revealing the details he has uncovered regarding precisely how Governor Jeb Bush [Bush The Younger’s brother] managed to swing Florida for the NeoCons when he appears as a panellist on a joint Minority Outreach Forum sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus and Senator Hillary Clinton. ... read full story / add a comment
