A sample selection of images from the exhibition, 'Images of Resistance' are enjoying widespread viewership (is there such a word?) in two cafes based in the 'Italian Centre', Dublin. The centre is beside the Millenium Bridge (next to the Halfpenny Bridge), it's the buildings built by Mick Wallace's workers. You may remember the sites being draped by huge canopies bearing different slogans during there construction, 'capitalism means war' being one. Mick ruffled a lot of feathers and won. The sale of the prints will help finance the exhibition and one or more of the photographers to travel to different locations. Some posters of the exhibition are still available at only €1 each. Lots a great food at reasonable prices too! Any enquiries to myself at the above e-mail address. ... read full story / add a comment

A huge of amount of suport was expressed for the families of the Rossport Five by supporters of both teams contesting the Hurling All-Ireland final at Croke Park yesterday (Sunday 11th September 2005). Although both sides expressed admiration for the men and their heroic fight against the injustice of being jailed for peacefully protecting their community, most collecters going around the pubs felt that the Galway supporters were more generous. Perhaps they simply know more about the case in Galway? An enormous amount of money was raised, and over a thousand stickers were given out. This money will support the five men in their fight. ... read full story / add a comment

The US Count Votes project's most recent statistical analysis presents a thorough scientific rebuttal of Edison/Mitofsky´s proposed explanation for the discrepancy between last November's exit poll figures, which predicted a win for Kerry with a margin of 3%, and final vote tallies, which gave Bush the victory with a margin of 2.5%. According to the statisticians who have authored this latest analysis of the exit poll and vote tally data, Edison/Mitofsky's explanation just does not hold water. The hypothesis that the discrepancy was due to vote miscounting persists. ... read full story / add a comment

On Monday 12 September, the Danish defence intelligence whistleblower Frank Grevil commences an appeal against the six-month prison sentence he was given last November as a penalty for leaking confidential threat assessments about Iraq to the Danish daily Berlingske Tidende the previous February. The leak undermined confidence in the Danish government’s decision to participate in the invasion of Iraq on the basis of the alleged threat of weapons of mass destruction. Meanwhile, Grevil’s former employer will press for a new prosecution for further offences allegedly committed in a book about Grevil that has just been published. ... read full story / add a comment
