in Something Maybe Beautiful written by Naomi Klein, the italian social centre network (150 + @ 2001) was described in the Frenchnewspaper Le Monde as "the Italian cultural jewel."......
http://www.nologo.org/newsite/detail.php?ID=34

"Social centres are abandoned buildings—warehouses, factories, military forts, schools—that have been occupied by squatters and transformed into cultural and political hubs, explicitly free from both the market, and from state control. By some estimates there are 150 social centres in Italy."

this and further background can be found at critical discussion at monks garden, venice (commentry on and about the art world and in particular artist Sarah Pierces "monks garden" project that is part of the Venice Bienelle, the "art olympics" )

fri night - a good night by all, probably could have been better with more organisation
thanks to all who made happen, who came, who shared life, who contributed creativity, who dreamed of more.

hopefully we will have another similar event, possibly on a saturday, with more time given to let people know, we received many emails from groups and individuals who were very interested but could not make it
so next time

the theatre of the opressed workshop was great, mucho obrigado to raul, cut a bit short when we were really getting into the guts of it

there will be more

the badge making went down a treat
