Disturbing anti-immigrant comments have been made by Councillor Jon Rainey, the vice-chairperson of Fingal County Council. By clicking the link to the Northside People newspaper and going to the title "Ireland's babies are Irish" under Northside news, you will be able to read these comments as reported. Cllr. Rainey used to be in the PD's, but is now an "independent" Councillor. He was supported for the position of Vice Chair of the Council by FF and FG Councillors. The Belfast office of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Movement has claimed that an Irishman being questioned by Israeli police has been a victim of mistaken identity.

The movement said the man being held is Seán Ó Morgáin, a peace activist who had no terrorist connections whatsoever.
