The High Court this morning ruled in favour of a case appealed from the Circuit Court on behalf of the Dublin City Campaign Against the Bin Tax. The Union Of Students Of Ireland National Demonstration took place today in Dublin city centre. The protest was called to highlight and oppose the threats of fees and privatisation in education. The Council of Dublin City voted tonight to pass the Estimates, with a minor amendment from FF by 32 votes to 15. The Estimates were supported by Labour, FG and FF councillors. An Iraqi student has been suspended from her school in Dublin after she had her photograph taken with the Irish President, Mrs Mary McAleese. The principal, Mr Danny Cussen has defended the action, saying it was a disciplinary matter for the school only, and denied it was because of the students nationality.
