In its ongoing campaign of picketing Galway businesses unethically selling Israeli products, activists with the Free Palestine Campaign are assiduous in their duty to conscience and human rights, of equal committment to base slander, malevolence and malodorous porkies are the management and security of Woodies DIY store, off the Headford Road, Galway, who unfailingly call in the Gardai to get rid of us on spurious and malevolent grounds: that we abuse, swear at and curse their customers, are aggressive towards them, block the entrance to their store and the area, which is a public space for commercial activities, is "private property." ... read full story / add a comment

...and they are very very angry. ...yes anger, shock, disgust and a determination to respond in some way against the Irish government and Shell. That was the general feeling of the vast majority of up to 20, 000 people who took a leaflet at the two day public engagement at the GPO. Many people stopped at the display and engaged with the campaigners. Norwegian, Dutch, Irish, South African, American, with people from all walks of life and many more countries taking the leaflet. Thanks to everyone that helped out, they were two long days, but they were worth it. This is a statement from the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Company. This union has a long history of struggle for econnomic and civil rights. Here they make clear that there must be a struggle for the rights of all Iranians who have been oppressed. This article is supposed to be available on http://www.justiceforiranianworkers.org/ but that site is down at present. So I am posting it in full here. In line with the recognition of the labour rights, we request that June 26 Action Day - Justice for Iranian workers - to include the human rights of all Iranians who have been deprived of their rights. ... read full story / add a comment

Eirigí members had a very successful action at a $hell PR briefing in Buswell's Hotel, Dublin. Seven Eirigí members turned up with their banner and excellent arguments and many questions for the four gurus? = apocolyptic horse soldiers of the giant multinational oil company, that is ($)hell. As an observer, it was very interesting to see and hear what some of the visitors from across the road (the Dáil -Irish Parliament) had to say to the blippers of spin. This was a hastily convened and 'played down' (their words) PR attempt by $hell and in my opinion, a disaster. *Blip = An unexpected, minor and usually temporary deviation from a trend. ... read full story / add a comment
