The prosecution of a man for burning the Qur'an shows how Islamic blasphemy codes are becoming embedded in criminal law. Coming up with a legal definition of 'Islamophobia' will accelerate this process, says Sam Bidwell.

SHOULD nationalists accept once and or all that unionists have the right to have their own identity and culture and to celebrate their own festivals, then calls for "calm" over the Twelfth period would be unnecessary.

Any difficulties experienced can be blamed on the immaturity and bigotry of those who cannot abide anything that does not pay homage to Irish nationalism. read full story / add a comment

Cork neo-nazi Brian Wallace advertised a public meeting to be held at 3pm in Patrick Street in Cork today. In the event, he was the only neo-nazi to show up, but he was soon joined by about 16 or 17 anti-nazi protesters who effectively shooed him off the street - he eventually hid in a bookies office in Coburg Street. Below is his own view of this event, taken from U.S. neo-nazi site Stormfront.org read full story / add a comment

What has been going on in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian West Bank and Gaza Strip is not only overtly tragic and deadly by all counts but is covertly an embodiment of Israel`s unique "democracy". Thanks to this unprecedented democracy, the entire Palestinian territories have been converted into a big prison where the sufferings of the Palestinian people are unbearable. read full story / add a comment

Anti Privatisation Forum

Following the public meeting in Finglas on Monday a week ago, it was
suggested that we should get together to build support for the CIE day
of
action on August 19th and to see how we can take things further.

Aug 19 is an important day to show public support for the CIE workers
fighting privatisation and I think we will want to find ways of
reaching out
to community groups, trade unionists and others in the area to show
their
support on the protests the CIE workers are planning for that day.

I am proposing that whoever can meet up at 6.00pm on Thursday 31st July
in
the office above Fred's Fashions in Finglas Village.

Hope to see you there. read full story / add a comment
