Gerry Adams today criticizes the Gombeen/comprador Dublin government for not speaking out against the impending war on Iraq. Adams cannot criticize the Anglo-American axis because he is their willing tool in destroying the republican movement and in eliminating the Irish resistance to imperialism. The Good Friday Agreement is the program of the Anglo-American empire to finally solve the Irish Question. And Adams, aided and abetted by the corrupt Fianna Fail govt., is the key player in this attempt to destroy over 200 yrs of Irish resistance to imperialism. Criticizing the foolish 'Bertie' for not 'speaking out'against the war is a very weak position. Clearly Adams is so beholden to the U.S./U.K. power structure that he is now incapable of taking a principled stand against imperial agression. He hopes that by asking 'Bertie' to speak out against the war that the republican grassroots will be assured of his anti-imperialism. Dream on. read full story / add a comment

(Q) For what do you reproach the New Yorker? For marching to the same beat as the New York Times and all the other great American media that don't criticize the government for fear that the administration will take revenge by blocking their access to sources and information. Mass media today is in the hands of a limited group of extremely wealthy owners whose interests don't coincide at all with those of the average soul living in a country (USA) where the gap between rich and poor is now unbridgeable. In this context, all criticism of the administration is automatically branded unpatriotic and un-American. Our media choose to ignore news that in the rest of the world receives wide prominence; if it were not for the Internet, even my view of the world would be extremely limited. read full story / add a comment

A broad-based Cork Anti-War Campaign was formed at a large organisational meeting in the Imperial Hotel last night. The meeting also saw the emergence of a Cork Trade Unionists Against the War, a student/third level group, and the beginnings of local groups in the county. The next meeting of CAWC will be held upstairs in O'Donoghue's Bar in Drawbridge Street next Monday at 8pm. All welcome! Also, for those unable to travel to Dublin on Saturday, there will be an action/protest at Daunt Square from 2pm. Bring a home-made placard or something else to symbolise your opposition to US/UK warmongering. read full story / add a comment

AROUND 40 people took part in the first stage of a four-day anti-war march from Derry to Belfast yesterday to protest at the possibility of war on Iraq. I've heard from very reliable sources that many bus, rail and ESB workers will be walking off the job for several hours this Saturday afternoon, so that as many as them as possible can attend Saturday's anti war demo, and as also as mark of solidarity to the anti war movement from those workers who for whatever reason cannot make it this Saturday, and also as a warning to Ahern, Harney and Cowen about what workers will do if a war breaks out. read full story / add a comment
