The BBC has run a story claiming UK spring temperatures are up 1.8?C. It's alarmist agitprop straight from a Green Blob press release and it doesn't check out when you look at the facts, says Chris Morrison.

The Javaad Alipoor Company is a theatre company with a woke "nine-point manifesto that drives everything we do". Inevitably, the Arts Council is stuffing it with taxpayers' cash. Why do we fund this crap?

Work stoppage this Saturday?

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday February 13, 2003 14:43author by Worker against the war - Workers against the war Report this post to the editors

Anyone got more info?

I've heard from very reliable sources that many bus, rail and ESB workers will be walking off the job for several hours this Saturday afternoon, so that as many as them as possible can attend Saturday's anti war demo, and as also as mark of solidarity to the anti war movement from those workers who for whatever reason cannot make it this Saturday, and also as a warning to Ahern, Harney and Cowen about what workers will do if a war breaks out.

Could somebody confirm the above please.

Many thanks,

Worker against the war,
Workers against the war

This is yet another Trot pipedream. What do you think you are going achieve by this crap? I've heard of self fulfilling prophecies but this is the opposite.

When ESB, Rail & Bus workers wont take solidarity action in support of their own colleagues, what chance is there of this?

Talking up the idea of a 20,000 strong march is also very foolish. If 10,000 turn out then that would be a major victory. But now because of the wild IAWM predictions, 10,000 could be portrayed in the media as a failure.

I know some people are sick to death of me saying this, but all they have to do is ignore this.....

I urge everyone to keep on emailing everyone they know to try and come along on Saturday.

Hebe and King Mob and the rest of you armchair so-called 'Anarchists' read the following article http://www.indymedia.ie/cgi-bin/newswire.cgi?id=28751 Now put that in your pipes and smoke it. Also already more than 30 coaches are coming from Cork alone. So you're taling through your big fat arses.

As of yesterday evening there were:
1 from west cork
1 from north cork
1 green party,cork city
1 ucc,cork city
3 cork peace alliance, cork city
Perhaps there are more I haven't heard of, I'm sure more buses will be required as saturday approaches but to state that 30 seems like a wee bit of an exageration.

During the IRA struggle against British imperialism in the 1920's, there was a general strike on the railroads when the workers refused to move munitions thus hindering the war effort. Do workers at Shannon have any similar plans?

Nice Idea if it happened, but SIPTU will make sure it does not. It would really piss Bertie and Harney off much more that the peace campers who ran away if there was a strike in shannon though.

Don't know how many of us will turn up tomorrow, but we are expecting a good turnout tomorrow. The unions (who are they?) for once did a great job, certainly here in the Poolbeg power plant in putting up posters and giving out leaflets advising all workers to attend tomorrow's anti war demo in Dublin. We actually seen our union reps for once. Pity they wouldn't put the same effort in for the rest of the year that they've done for tomorrow's demo. See you all tomorrow.
