Kurdish, Iraqi and Palestinian solidarity - joint appeal against war The three main Irish campaigning NGOs concerned with the Middle East, Kurdistan Solidarity Ireland, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, and the Campaign to End Sanctions in Iraq, have issued the following joint appeal: The Kurdish and Iraqi peoples have already suffered for years under the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein and the devastating impact of international sanctions. They are now at severe risk from the unpredictable consequences of a war. The Palestinian people also fear a new escalation of Israeli attacks under cover of war in Iraq. For the sake of the civilian populations of the Middle East, and for the sake of friendship between the peoples of the Middle East and the peoples of Europe, we call on the Irish government to take a strong stance against the war. We also ask the Irish people to express the strongest possible opposition to any war against Iraq, and to support the national anti-war demonstration in Dublin on the 15th February. See joint press release on the IPSC website Statement of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign on the War in Iraq: |
