As of a couple of hours ago users of the english Al Jazeera website have been re-directed to a site with an American flag with the words "Let freedom ring" emblazoned across it. The Arabic site users are being directed to a porn site. Jihad Ali Ballout, a spokesman for al-Jazeera described the attack as "a frontal, vicious attack on freedom of the press" and urged anyone with information about the hackers to contact authorities. In an action to highlight the connections between our economy hooked on oil & the war in Iraq the $Hell Petrol station on Great Victoria Street (the most central city petrol station) was blockaded for one and a half hours by 40 people during ‘rush/(snail) hour traffic. 8 activists using lock-ons blockaded the two entrances to the station as a ‘No Blood for Oil’ banner was dropped from the forecourt canopy. read full story / add a comment
