Shannon air-traffic controller strike

news report
Friday March 28, 2003 11:01 by kokomero
What is the anti-war movement doing about preventing an additional 150,000 American troops from arriving in Iraq to massacre Iraqis? Almost every year French and Spanish railway workers and air-traffic controllers cause travel chaos for holiday makers. Why can't we pressure the Irish air-traffic controllers union into striking or refusing to handle American air-traffic. This action should be simple to implement, is completely peaceful, involves no damage to property and eminently serves the purpose of making it as difficult as possible for Anglo-American troops to arrive in Iraq. If the air-traffic controllers will not strike a picket on the staff entrances to the airports could serve the same purpose of disrupting American troop-carrier landings and overflights! What do you think? |

this is their bread and butter you are talking about. The Shannon stovers are in their interest as it generates business and jobs for them.
It's the same for anyone who works in the region. I guess you could say that you are barking up the wrong bush.... (yeah I know, stolen from Homer Simpson)
Start somewhere dont leave it to unions - or SP or Labour - get the 'virtual warriors' on the job.
Eh Joe
- whatcha doing with that (mega)phone in your hand
-gonna shoot some activists down
-cos I caught them messing around with another plan
the virtual warriors are on the job. we lobbied the ICTU conference on Wednesday. The SP were active in their armchairs.
Pat I am fucking sick and tired of your crap. The SP are not armchair activists, if you had bothered to get away from your keyboard you would have seen that the SP have been very active in the anti war movement.
Maybe the SP didn't lobby the ICTU conference because we had no delegates or were involved in other work. Maybe you could have considered this? We can't be everywhere at everytime. You are just absolutly ridiclous.
If I got on and kept on saying that Pat Corcoran didn't do this and didn't do the other you would be going mad and denouncing me as a mad trot. But when you do it it is ok. Pat you're a fool
You really do have an irrational problem with the SP, my advice is that you need to seek some help.
"Pat I am fucking sick and tired of your crap. The SP are not armchair activists, if you had bothered to get away from your keyboard you would have seen that the SP have been very active in the anti war movement."
I have proven that i am not an armchair activist, you are an anonymous fool.
Why wont the SP puiblically defend their inaction?
"Maybe the SP didn't lobby the ICTU conference because we had no delegates or were involved in other work. Maybe you could have considered this? We can't be everywhere at everytime. You are just absolutly ridiclous. "
This is nonsense. The SP voted against the lobby at the IAWM meeting last sunday. You dont have to have delegates at a conference to lobby it.
"If I got on and kept on saying that Pat Corcoran didn't do this and didn't do the other you would be going mad and denouncing me as a mad trot. But when you do it it is ok. Pat you're a fool"
The SP have counterposed strike action to Direct ACtion. Your attempt at insults are pathetic.
"You really do have an irrational problem with the SP, my advice is that you need to seek some help."
once again the SP show that they wont answer questions, they just resort to personal abuse.
obviously the sp has very little influence with da werkers
Of course the SP have little impact among workers, the SP is a very small organisation. I make no apologies for that.
Pat, if you are around tomorrow at the demo, I am going to take up these points and your vitriolic crap against the SP with you in person.
Yeah thats it lets march around Dublin that'll stop them planes
This bickering is pathetic.
Marching will do no good. The politicians are ignoring it.
It is much better to prevent airports from functioning by preventing staff fom getting in and/or convincing staff and/or their unions not to allow the planes to enter the country, and if they do not to refuel or resupply them.
