I have just been informed, through a very reliable security source in Shannon Airport, that tomorrow afternoon, Colin Powell will be touching down in Shannon for a few hours (refueling etc). Colombian society is today united in horror at the mass slaying of ten FARC kidnap victims. Two of these were prominent politicians who had spent a year in FARC dungeons, having been kidnapped while leading a peace march ! The rest were soldiers (no Geneva Convention for the FARC !). Listeners heard IRSP Ard-Chomhairle representative and former H-Block prisoner Paul Little say: "IRA Volunteer Bobby Sands is the most iconic of the H-Block hunger strikers, his image is known throughout the world as that of a courageous freedom fighter who made the ultimate sacrifice and died on hunger strike for political status in 1981.
