Sorry for the lateness of this, but since I haven't heard from anyone is there an Anti Bin Tax Protest 2Day? And if so will it be at the usual time and place, ie from 6 to 7 outside City Hall, Dame Street? With this being the 2nd last or last Meeting, depending on what date in May the Election is held, Meeting of Dublin City Council before the Election, I think that it's very important to show both the Councillors and the Public at large that the Bin Tax will be a very big issue in the upcoming Election Nationwide. By the time of the next City Council Meeting the Election may very well be over! read full story / add a comment

More than 150 people staged a demonstration against sex abuse today as Cardinal Desmond Connell celebrated mass. The Cardinal was saying mass to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers, a community which has been closely linked with schools and education in the State. As the mass went ahead in the headquarters of the Royal Dublin Society, the men and women involved in the protest - some of whom said they were victims of abuse by Catholic priests - made emotional demands for Cardinal Connell's resignation. Priests and nuns going to the mass were handed leaflets outlining the reasons for the demonstration as they ran the gauntlet of protesters. Spokesman Mr John Kelly said there should be an independent inquiry into abuse by church figures and compensation for all victims. The street protest followed the resignation last week of Brendan Comiskey, Bishop of Ferns, read full story / add a comment

If the ra are serious about decommissioning their weapons then wouldnt it be more in keeping with their freedom fighter rhetoric to somehow send them to those palestinians fighting against imperialists rather than letting them rot. Its not Politically feasible true but it can be done. As a postsript, its good to hear reports about whats happening up north on the newswire, and i hope it continues. read full story / add a comment
