Al Jazeera showed a new videotape of one of the September 11 hijackers, reading his will and saying it was a Muslim duty to fight the "American enemy." In 2001 448 people officially took their own lives, there were 366 road deaths over that same period (some of those accidents were likely to have been suicides)

On the morning of Wednesday September 10th peace activists from Donegal, Cavan and Sligo gathered for a silent peace vigil. I took part in the lobby of the depot at Grangegormon. This went from 7am to 8am and over 35 local activists took part. On Monday, September 22nd, starting from the Spike/Spire on O’Connell Street at 5pm, Reclaim The Streets and Critical Mass will be holding a “Repaint The Streets” event to mark European Car Free Day. A large crowd gathered outside City Hall in Galway on Tuesday the 9th , on what may be the last chance to do so legally if the city's reactionary and draconian council get their way. People and groups from all walks of Galway life were there, buskers, skateboarders, kite flyers, shopkeepers, sports enthuasiasts, unions, voluntary and political groups. All were united in protest and condemnation at the introduction of the borderline facist byelaws, which are set to strangle through over-regulation nearly all public activity of almost any sort, and destroy the vibe and spirit that Galway is famous for. read full story / add a comment
