Peace Campaigners sit-in at Cork arms components supplier

About a dozen protesters today staged a surprise demonstration at DDC Ireland at the Cork Science & Technology Park on Model Farm Road.

Protesters carry coffin past entrance to DDC

DDC - the Data Device Corporation makes semiconductors including a system known as the MIL-STD-1553 data bus (MIL-STD is an abbreviation for Military Standard). Among the aircraft these are used in is the US Apache Helicopter, including those supplied to Israel and Turkey.

Today's protest was organised by the Cork Anti-War Campaign. Protesters dressed as Weapons Inspectors cordoned off the main entrance and brought a black coffin marked "Irish Neutrality" into the state of the art IDA factory. At least one protester made it on to the roof of the plant while others carried peace banners.
