Lev Manovich gives a lecture about "variable media generation", the new cultural and media paradigm of the 21st century. Manovich argues that this new paradigm as a whole is destined to replace the older paradigm of standardized mass production that we inherited from an extinct industrial era.

Paris is currently attempting to break the European record for sustained rioting in peacetime this week in the suburb Clichy sous Bois (Seine st. Denis).

So far, the parisien race riot, which centres on the death of two young african born teenagers has outlasted Birmingham's inter-ethnic rioting (which started because of a rape rumour) of the previous weekend, and even Belfast's "love ulster" bash in the summer. read full story / add a comment

On Thursday we held our silent protest as all members of staff went to the 'Questions and Answers' meeting regarding the proposed closure of our Thomas Street campus... The silence lasted only until the meeting began, to be followed by 3 hours of colourful and noisy opposition to the move! Hundreds of students lined the corridors around the meeting and shouted slogans, many directly to Colm O'Briain, the director of NCAD, one of the main men involved in the proposal of this plan. As of yet, there's no official word from the government in relation to the move.

Local Councillor's have been contacted and many are in opposition to the proposed plan, and will meet with City Council officials and Colm O'Briain on November 11th.

In relation to spin-off's question: "I wonder have the SU contacted those "suppliers" and "small businesses" &c.., in the area to ask them about their views on losing their customer base? Quite probably budding artists will remain loya read full story / add a comment
