Israeli Marxist politician who rejected Zionism and championed Palestinian rights, Meir Vilner has died aged 84. Meir was the youngest and last surviving of the 37 signatories to Israel's 1948, declaration of independence. 6 people have been arrested at the anti-war demo in shannon. Cops, including some in riot gear, blocked access to the airport, a sit down protest ensued, leading to the arrests, which were quite forceful. Included among the arrestees are one minor (aged 13) and 2 or 3 parents, leaving some toddlers on their own.
