Last night's Bin Tax Protest outside City Hall was a total flop! Only 12 people turned up - Myself, 10 members of the Worker's Party and Des Derwin, Trade Unionist and actively involved with the Socialist Alliance in Ireland. That's all! “Israel is to become the watchdog. There is no fear that Israel will undertake any aggressive Policy towards the Arab states when this would explicitly contradict the wishes of the US and Britain. But if for any reasons the Western powers should sometimes prefer to close their eyes, Israel could be relied upon to punish one or several neighbouring states whose discourtesy to the West went beyond the bounds of the permissible.” The Israeli paper Ha’aretz, 30 September 1951 ... read full story / add a comment
