There are calls for a halt to violence only when Israelis retaliate.

Are you Irish? if you are you have clearly not been studying your
countries history, or for that matter the history of any population at war.
In your article you say: "So if the Israelis crush the Palestinians,
there will be a howling from Arab mobs, but little else. And
Israel must inflict a severe military defeat upon the Palestinians
if there ever is to be peace"
Did bloody sunday in Derry's bogside convince republicans
to pursue peace? or was there ques like never
seen before at IRA enrolement stations
in the north and in the republic the night and following days?
Did the clearly defeated leaders of the easter rising
lead the public to reject them, or did they become
heros in the eyes of Ireland?
Did the people of England, during the blitz, a
clear "military defeat" make the British people
or government seek peace with the Germans?
Or was it one of the single most factors in inspiring
the British to fight on?
War never makes peace when it is waged on a population
the way Israel is conducting this brutal invasion,
which we are so often told is to destroy "terrorist
infrastructure". Including Jack, water, electricity,
water and sewage. Because a Hamas activist in Jenin
runs a tap, did the water supply feeding this tap become
terrorist infrastructure?, when he turns on his TV, did
the power plant providing the electricity become
terrorist infrastructure?
I find it sickening that in a war which has seen hundreds of
innocents die on each side (five times more on the
palestinian side) you actually want to "give war a chance"
You are well versed in middle east history, i suggest
you verse yourself in the history of this type of conflict
so you can understand neither side can ever be subdued
by force.
