J-day Press Release from the C.I.A.

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday April 09, 2002 16:39author by 8den - Cannabis Ireland AllianceReport this post to the editors

Cannabis Ireland Alliance (CIA) are holding their second annual J Day celebration in Bushy Park Terenure in solidarity with the "Million Marijuana March" being held in 150 cities around the world.

International Cannabis Action May 4th

2nd Celebration of civil disobedience in Bushy Park.

2pm Bushy Park Amphitheatre.

CIA is a collection of concerned individuals who are campaigning for the re-legalisation of cannabis in Ireland. We advocate the acceptance of responsible marijuana use and the right of the individual to produce cannabis for personal use. We are calling for an immediate halt to prosecution for possession or cultivation (subject to restrictions needed to ensure the quality and cleanliness of supply) of cannabis; an amnesty for all those currently sentenced for possesion or cultivation; and the elimination of a criminal record for any individual previously sentenced on these charges.

The largest proportion of drug related criminal proceedings in this state are cannabis offences. Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, and the UK have all made moves to liberalise their drug laws. It is now time for the Irish Government to acknowledge that prohibtion is causing more harm that good, through unneccasry prosecutions. The war on cannabis only serves the criminals who are reaping immense profits from the situation. The war on Cannabis is a waste of public funds.

Last year a few hundred people drank, smoked, enjoyed the sunshine and listened to whoever turned up with drums and guitars.
This proved to be sucessfull and brought no police aggravation.
So this year we are doing the same. Please bring drums, juggling gear, games, food, drink, family or whatever you think will make this day a fun celibration.

Tell everyone!

See you there
Phill
