True, some people said it would be better not to drink but in a context where a glass of Guinness a day was even said to be good for babies because of the nutrients it contained, the total abstainers seemed extreme in their caution. ... read full story / add a comment

Over 60 people attended a public meeting in Dublin on Saturday afternoon during which Caoimhe Butterly spoke movingly of her experiences in war-torn Lebanon over the past six months. Caoimhe very strongly highlighted the western media's tendency to depict the Lebanese simply as 'victims' of Israeli aggression while never showing their dignity and resiliance in the face of death, destruction and invasion. She spoke about the mass movement currently on the streets of Beirut and how it is cross-party and cross-community, and, potentially, poses a threat to the confessional nature of the Lebanese state. ... read full story / add a comment ![]()
