Is Keir Starmer autistic? His public persona (or lack of), absence of interpersonal skills and obsessively technocratic outlook might lead us to conclude so. But that would be unfair on autistic people, says Steven Tucker.

This is not my poem but I am printing it here for the Lady who is now in charge at the Irish Times. The lady who commented recently that Anti-Capitalist Activists are ignored by the ‘mainstream’ and that this is done at the ‘peril’ of the mainstream. This is the lady who employs Paddy Agnew as an Italian Correspondent. Paddy ignores the descent of Italian Political life into a form of soft totalitarianism. Paddy consistently repeats the bullshit about Genoa propagated by Berlusconi over a year ago. The Irish Times (suddenly concerned at the appearance of a Million people in Florence) prints an editorial that shows how little they know or care about the ground that is shifting under their feet. Lip service only. Rely on the Guardian for report on Florence. Seattle happened in 2000 according to Geraldine K last week. Since my last post about Shannon airport and my court cases here there have been quite a few developments -- questions in the parliament, TV documentaries, radio discussions, more talk of a Shannon peace camp, plans for a Shannon demo on December 8th, and mention of the Irish "refueling for war" situation in newspapers and newsletters internationally. Others have already posted articles about those stories. This is an update mostly about the court processes I am in now, and I'm hoping that you'll continue to support what I'm trying to do. ... read full story / add a comment

A few hundred people participated in a Cork Peace Alliance anti-war demonstration through the streets of Cork today (16 November). The protest, in the form of a mass funeral, was led by a coffin marked 'Irish neutrality', which in turn was followed by mourners bearing wreaths. Hundreds of leaflets, highlighting the use of Shannon airport by US forces, were distributed and there was a very favourable response from onlookers. One particularly striking feature of the protest was the presence of large numbers of teenagers. ... read full story / add a comment
