On Saturday March 29, about 800-1000 people demonstrated against the installation of a US missile base in northern Poland. The base, which the governments of the US and Poland would like to build in Redzikowo, just outside of Slupsk near the Baltic Sea, would house elements of the American Missile Defense program, namely so-called interceptor missiles (which can also be used for offensive purposes. Despite the fact that 60% of local residents and over half of all Poles are strongly against the base, and only a small fraction of the rest support it, the government is intent to go ahead and build the base. A radar base is also to be built in the Czech Republic, again despite the opposition of most citizens. ... read full story / add a comment

Since the international water conference in Dublin in 1992, the international community has continued to refuse (institutionally) to recognise the access to water as a human right, i.e. as a universal, impartible and untouchable right. A proposed resolution by Germany & Spain to include water as a universal right through the framework of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva
has been blocked by Canada & the USA. This might be because Canada has lots of H2O as the clean bit of the fluid is called by first worlders once they take out the oestrogen, cryptosporidium, residual heavy metals & artificial colourings. Third worlders have many words for water & don't often worry about the oestrogen, cryptosporidium & heavy metals due to the cholera thing which can sometimes worries them more than the lack of artificial colourings in their water which often gives it a brownish or greyish tint......This is quite normal.......Honestly it is.

The German magazine "Stern" published a report on the supermarket LIDL in the last week which alledged the corporation had been spying on its employees. The story is now being taken up across Europe, where indeed workers shop in & work for the LIDL chain. The allegations are being supported daily by more and more evidence as can be seen by perusing the original articles at "Stern" complete with photos, a vid, extracts from internal memos, et cetera, so long & so forth.

Included in the internal memos were suggestions that menstruating women employees wear a coloured headband so managers could allow them extra "toilet time", time which would be denied male or non-menstruating employees. It gets worse.., "tattoos"........."wants higher wages"........"junkie friends"......... ... read full story / add a comment

MAOR (an Irish word for ‘guardian’ or ‘steward’) are a group of individuals based in the North West who came together in 2006 in solidarity with the Shell to Sea campaign and in response to the issues surrounding gas and oil exploration off the Donegal coast.
