Dublin youth activists united in protest today outside the European Union house to urge a No! vote in this Thursday’s Lisbon Treaty referendum.

The protest, which included an open mic and street theatre, was jointly organised by Ógra Shinn Féin, and the Connolly Youth Movement, with members of the IPSC and Anarchist activists also in attendance.

Following a very imaginative and visible protest which had Brian Cowen and Charlie McCreevy present, there was an extensive canvass of the thronged Grafton Street asking people to secure a better deal for Ireland, and vote No!

After meeting with a refusal to examine the case, one yeare ago, he urged the Court´s President to react to the Secretary General´s failure to act. A new Irish Times poll to be published in the paper in the morning, shows the Yes side at 30%, down five percentage points since their last poll three weeks ago, while the 'No' side is standing at 35%, up by an astounding 17%.

National Shipyard Workers go on strike on 16th of June to stop workplace deaths in Tuzla, near Istanbul in Turkey. In a timely statement on May 1st, nurses in Cork city's A & E service poured scorn on the HSE. Part of the reason why they did this was because of the ongoing situation at Cork's Mercy Hospital. In their statement, the nurses said that it was their "collective view that patient care is being compromised and that it is only a matter of time before there are serious issues and incidents ..." A month on from that statement there has been no resolution in the Cork area. A new repersentive group is being formed to speak for the majority of Electrical Contractors in Ireland who have no voice when it comes to talks about pay and conditions. This group is to be called The NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS OF IRELAND (NECI). A meeting is being held in the Radisson Hotel Athlone on Saturday the 7th of June and all interested Electrical Contractors are invited to attend. The annual conference of the Public and Commercial Services union held on May 21-23 conference in Brighton overwhelmingly agreed to affiliate to Hands Off the People of Iran. The motion was proposed by Dave Vincent of the CPGB but its adoption was largely due to the supoort of Socialist Party activists in the union.
