Dear Friends & Comrades!

Due to increased pressure placed upon several political prisoners of the PCE (r) and of GRAPO currently detained within the French prison system since July 2002 on unjust and false charges, a formal statement (see below in English and Spanish) has been issued to the Tribunal of their forth coming show trails giving notice of an ‘indefinite hunger strike’ to begin on 28th October 2005. ... read full story / add a comment

18,000 birds in Ceamurlia de Jos, Romania were killed on Sunday and culling of a neighbouring village Maliuc with less than 3,000 poultry was under way.

This is because they are dirty birds the first to get H5N1 in the European Union under Tony Blair's watch. Ireland has already prepared. We are anti-bird. Our neighbours the UK have seen their chief medical officer Sir Liam Donaldson say 50,000 Britons will die in the next years from H5N1. ... read full story / add a comment

The father of a Danish soldier recently killed in Iraq has joined a well-organised legal campaign to prosecute Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen for leading Denmark to participate in the invasion of March 2003.

This development is of vital significance to the campaign, because the father of the dead soldier has an incontrovertible ‘legal interest’ in Denmark’s participation in the invasion. After all, he has lost his son as a consequence. Some legal experts had previously predicted that the constitutional case instituted on Tuesday would be dismissed for lack of such legal interest. ... read full story / add a comment

On Tuesday September 22 Local farmer Brendan Kelly, while on his way to his land via a right of way his family have used for generations, found his way blocked by a digger and dumper belonging to the developers of the proposed landfill site in Killconnell. He discovered to his surprise that Greenstar intended to remove part of the right of way and divert him through lands leased by Greenstar to gain access to his lands, in order to build a new access road for the dump. There was no consultation with Mr. Kelly prior to this, nor with any of the other dozen or so local people that used that right of way. Mr. Kelly immediately told the workers that they had no right to work on the right of way, citing his rights and duties under Local Agenda 21 and the Aarhus Convention. ... read full story / add a comment

It was recorded at the US Embassy, October 11th, 2004, to mark a fitting commemoration of Columbus Day and its significance.

The vigil was organised by the Pit Stop Ploughshares/Dublin Catholic Worker who are on trial at the Four Courts on october 24th 2004 for disarming a US navy plane in a non-violent action at Shannon Warport.

Sustained organisation of events such as this over the past three years show that the action against the warplanea was no stunt, but a logical direct action manifestation of consistent anti-war morality.

this is the "Bolzaneto torture trial".

On Friday, 28 officers will appear in court over a raid at a school which protesters were using as a dormitory.

this is the follow up to the beginning of the court proceedings on April 6th 2005 which saw police first testify on May 4th

These cases focus more on the Diaz school incidents than Guiliani, but the whole thing comes together and indeed all these investigations and trials are concurrent now which heightens their contemporary political effect.

Today thus marks "the next stage". ... read full story / add a comment
