A relaxed yet determined crowd gathered at the monthly vigil in Shannon this Sunday evening to protest against the ongoing use of the airport by the US military and CIA. And also not surprisingly, the Gardai were determined to stop any of the concerned vigil attendees from identifying it. ... read full story / add a comment

Funeral of EU Traety at the bourse in Brussel

Today in Brussels representatives of the belgian people (Attac, Onzezeg, Notremotadire, CAP ao.) burried the Lisbon Treaty at the bourse in the centre of the Europeen Union.

People of Europe want their say on the EU.They want the referendums to be respected; This Treaty is not democratic and not protecting our social security. The non democratic way the EU is constructed over our heads is getting dangerous for our freedom and democracy our parents fought for!.

The policy of EU treaties, the European Commission, is to commercialise public services. Flowing from competition policy, the commission forces state providers to compete with private companies in the supply of public services. What will become the poor or week citicen in this junglefight?

These liberal EU strategies have led us to the recent global financial crisis which will not stop: 80 % of our national laws are dicted by the EU.

More actions will follow this week.

This month, a Canadian court refused to hear a habeas corpus writ to challenge the continuing detention of Basque refugee Iban Apalaoza Sancho and the state's plans to deport him to Spanish jurisdiction. The court ruled that the country's Charter of Rights and Freedoms does not apply to residents in Canada who are not citizens. Iban is now on hunger strike in protest and the 17th has been set by the Canadian authorities for his deportation. The Dublin branch of the Irish Basque Committees called for support for protests it plans for the same day. ... read full story / add a comment

Following a visit from a doctor it was observed that Aidan's toes on his injured leg had turned black giving rise to fears of possible
