Irish Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire remained in Israeli custody in Tel Aviv today, two days after being told that she was banned from entering Israel as a result of her participation as a passenger on the MV Rachel Corrie in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in June. She will appear in the Central District Administrative Court in Petah Tikvah 11am (local time) tomorrow, Friday 1st October to contest her deportation. The two intrepid reporters approached the Dáil, hoping to have some serious questions answered, armed with a camera and a butt plug, just in case.

A big lorry came and parked outside the Dail in an act of protest about toxic banks. Reporters were later to be seen spinning the story that it had tried to crash through the gates. Later still, politicians were defecating the same thing. We had enough. We produced the butt plug. The politicians seemed to like it.

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) launched its new Northwest Branch at a public meeting in Sligo on Saturday 26 September in the Glasshouse Hotel.

Around 40 people attended the inaugural meeting of the Northwest IPSC. Addressing the meeting was the IPSC Boycott Officer Anne Kennedy, Fintan Lane of the Free Gaza Movement and the IPSC and Fiachra O Luain. Both Fiachra and Fintan were part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla that was attacked on May 31 in International waters by Israel, resulting in the murder of nine pro-Palestinian activists and the wounding of many more, some of whom remain in a serious condition.

24 September 2010 Bil`in, West Bank-Ashraf Al-Khatib was shot in the leg with a 0.22” caliber live bullet at the weekly demonstration against the illegal apartheid wall. An international nonviolent activist was also hit in the shoulder with a low-flying tear gas canister. The hundreds of other participants were attacked with huge quantities of tear gas.

Yesterday, the UN Human Rights Council issued, a 56 page damning indictment of Israeli actions on the night of May 31st last when the Gaza Freedom Flotilla was attacked in international waters resulting in the murders of 9 humanitarian activists and serious injuries to many of the other participants. The report recommends the prosecution of the Israelis concerned but led by the US and the Quisling Palestinian Authority, no doubt, the "international community" will be strenuously resisting this.?
