The jury in Mary Kelly's trial have just returned after three hours with a "guilty" verdict, ten to two. Sentencing will be tomorrow. The judge had directed the jury to ignore anything Mary had tried to say about the US military and Iraq. To further ensure a conviction he told them that a threat would need to be "immediate" for someone to have a lawful excuse to damage property. ... read full story / add a comment

On Wednesday the 3rd of November there will be a ceremony in University College Dublin to celebrate the college’s 150th anniversary. Students calling themselves “Global Action” are determined to use the occasion to raise serious questions about the current state of higher education. Three days of teach-ins are planned which will discuss a wide range of topics from the threat of privatisation, inequality of access and democracy in education. The events will culminate in what has been billed as a ‘Reclaim the Campus’ party. The event is timed to clash with the celebrations of the college authorities and is modelled on the ‘Reclaim the Streets’ carnivals that have been popularised world wide by the anti-globalisation movement. ... read full story / add a comment

60.000 to 80.000 people celebrated the victory of the "Red Sox" in Boston. However, police went crazy and shot a 22-year old girl with a "non"-lethal weapon in the eye. She died.
There was no specific action she did, there were no "riots" around her, nothing. She was just celebrating and chanting with others.

Meantime police is trained to see the enemy in us, the people: this is what we learn from this murder.

Kerry is America's oldest friend, and a true one at that. When the first Kerry man, Brendan, set foot in America circa 575 AD it created a unique link between the lands and a close bond between their peoples. Over the centuries millions of Kerry people have journeyed across the atlantic to our western neighbour, America. These people and their descendants played a hugh part in the building of that great nation, that land of freedom. Also, over the years, millions of Americans have come to visit Kerry the land of their ancestors.
Recently, we in Kerry have become concerned about what is happening across the water. It appears that America is currently ruled by a president and political regime who both lie to, and, manipulate our American friends. This results in restriction of freedom and human rights. Also, by lying to other nations, violating and ignoring international laws, treaties and conventions, America's respect and credibility around the globe is waning. ... read full story / add a comment
