Update to the open letter published on indymedia on the 20th of September 2007. Same sorry old story. No responsibility taken by the authorities who are preventing me from having my car in a public place, or driving any vehicle, due to their on-going vendetta. I am hopeful that the minister will take my complaint seriously and deal with it appropriately. Otherwise, its more hardship without any answers. ... read full story / add a comment

Award-winning Danish theatre company The Telling Theatre will perform their adaptation of Beowulf, at the Players Theatre at 8 pm on 20 October 2007. The show will be followed by a discussion with the performers.

With this production, the Narrative Arts Club would like to invite Irish performers and listeners to new ways of thinking about storytelling, in accordance with the club's motto: "Forget what storytelling was, and find out what it might be."

The "storytelling theatre" concept offers an exciting opportunity for the much-neglected art of storytelling to compete with the other urban arts, such as the conventional theatre, stand-up comedy and the cinema, for the attentions of savvy young urbanites at prime city-centre venues. ... read full story / add a comment

The visit of the head of the British Colonial police in Ireland to Cork tomorrow (September 28) is part of the ongoing process of normalising British rule in Ireland. The democratic aspirations of the Nepalese people have been betrayed by the current regime. It is no longer possible for the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)-CPN (M)- to remain in government. This government was formed under the premiership of Nepal Congress leader Koirala. It was set up following the struggle against Nepal's autocratic monarchy in April 2006. This government, which included Nepal's eight main parties, was meant to hold elections to a Constituent Assembly. However, the continued existence of the monarchy is putting these elections under serious threat. The monarchy is spreading violence and disorder, in order to undermine democracy. The continuing failure of the government to declare a republic has left the Maoists with no choice but to declare a nation-wide people's movement to fight for a republic and the other just and democratic demands of the people, from the streets.

For many years, the ‘peace dividend’ was held out as an incentive to engage in the process which ultimately resulted in the current peace in Ireland.

The United States Government, in pursuing the McAllister family's deportation, is undermining the concept of the peace dividend, and is sending out a message that is driven by a desire for retribution that is dangerously irrational and anachronistic.

While Ógra would never dream of violating Dublin City Councils rules on postering and such, or the inalienable right to private property, the cornerstone of this glorious state, we really must commend the young republicans who in support of our movement have attempted to remind the people of Dublin of the revolutionary history of their city.

16 Moore St. the final HQ of the Provisional Government of The Irish Republic in Easter week 1916 now represents the minority of the Parnell Street area which has not been revitalised by the "new" Irish. It lies in disrepair, shut up and until recently anonymous to the thousands who pass it everyday.

Since named as a protected structure by DCC in 2005 which halted an attempt by its owner to demolish it, 16 Moore St. has remained untouch and unopen. This is a great shame as it holds the potential for a focal point in what is now a very vibrant part of the city.
