 Statement by Republican Sinn Féin Vice President Des Dalton The visit of the head of the British Colonial police in Ireland to Cork tomorrow (September 28) is part of the ongoing process of normalising British rule in Ireland. By bringing Hugh Orde to Cork, like his visit to Ballymurphy in Belfast and Crossmaglen in Co Armagh, an attempt is being made to suggest that British rule and its forces of occupation are now normal and acceptable. British rule and continued British occupation are the cause of conflict in Ireland and will never be acceptable or normal. Events such as this or a visit by the Queen of England will be opposed by Irish Republicans. |

It seems the occupying power is welcome, a sad day when a Nation bows to the aggressor.
The vast majority of Irish people regard crude material wealth and participation in the capitalist rat race as much more important than the intangible aspiration of reunification of the Irish nation. Hence the popularity of New Sinn Féin in the North and Fianna Fáil in the Free State. Rebel Cork and the Gaels of the North have been pacified by Hire Purchase cars, mortgages and satellite dishes!
goodwill visits from the Royal Navy and co-operation between law enforcement agencies are to be welcomed as only good things can come from them.

You mean the future when the Royal Navy will be bombing more innocent people in the Middle East? And what "law" are you talking about? English Crown law in Ireland? What good could ever come from that?

well, if you've just been raped, robbed or assaulted or whatever, that law would bring the criminals to justice and you the victim could walk away knowing that justice had been done, is Irish law really so different from British law?
are the Irish people capable of making their own law?
NO, not while they disagree on their own nationality they can't.
it hardly helps having foreign interferance, let england move out of the six counties and finally let the irish people work togeather for what is best for them as a whole.

English guns and money are there totally distorting the situation and making sure of continual conflict. As for you assertion that English Crown law brings "justice" to the Irish people, this is pure nonsense. The very usurpation of Irish law by Crown law is an injustice to the Irish people. English law punishing a criminal in Ireland is illegal and no different to vigilantes doing it.
Good to know that the Royal Navy takes breaks from murdering Iraqis to search for smugglers. That must make the grieving relatives of 700,000 dead Iraqis and hundreds of thousands more injured and homeless feel alot better.
fair play to rsf cork for highlighting and protesting at the presence of chief of british police force in occupied 6 counties,chief constable hugh orde.thank god there are those who will never find british police and army acceptable in our country..prob a stupid question but are the provo sinn fein party now gone beyond the point of no return that they now have no problem with these normalisation visits.if the answer is yes then maybe they wont have my support again..and what about the future queeens visit.will gerry have no problem with that too??
