Tomorrow President Chirac visits the UK for two days most british and french mainstream media organs look at the relationship between the two EU members with nuclear capability.

Chirac has confirmed that even though Blair is "supine" (one of three positions in which the body is laid flat upon the ground the others being prostrate and prone) in it's attitude to Washington, he still likes Mr Blair and has a photo of his young son Leo.
The same Leo who "someone" shopped for being drunk and disorderly years ago on Whitehall after a RTS! event.

Police Use Taser On 6-Year-Old Boy

A 6-year-old boy was subdued with a Taser while wielding a piece of glass and threatening to hurt himself in the principal's office, officials said Thursday.

The boy, who was not identified, was shocked by police with 50,000 volts of electric current on Oct. 20 at Kelsey Pharr Elementary School.

The principal called 911 after the child broke a picture frame in her office and waved the piece of glass, holding a security guard back. He cut himself under his eye and on his hand. ... read full story / add a comment

As part of sweeping "economic restructuring" implemented by the Bush Administration in Iraq, Iraqi farmers will no longer be permitted to save their seeds. Instead, they will be forced to buy seeds from US corporations -- including seeds the Iraqis themselves developed over hundreds of years. That is because in recent years, transnational corporations have patented and now own many seed varieties originated or developed by indigenous peoples. In a short time, Iraq will be living under the new American credo: Pay Monsanto, or starve.

New Bicycle Seat More Healthy, Eliminates Sexual Dysfunction

A traditional bicycle seat is more likely to cause male sexual dysfunction and a variety of other health problems than a new seat with a revolutionary design, according to Medicine & Science In Sports & Exercise, the official journal of the American College of Sports Medicine. Results of the 2004 study concluded that the typical sport/racing saddle with a narrow protruding nose causes twice the pressure in the perineal region as the Solution Bicycle Seat, a unique new model without the nose.

Previous studies linked perineal pressure to difficulties resulting from bicycling, including numbness, urinary track and yeast infections, prostate inflammation and impotence. That is because sitting on a typical bike saddle for long periods of time compresses the artery that provides blood flow to the area, according to Dr. Irwin Goldstein, a prominent urologist from Boston University. ... read full story / add a comment

The Socialist Workers Party in Ireland (following the line from London) has finally declared its position regarding the armed resistance in Iraq. It is fully in support of such resistance - a position that all anti-imperialists should agree with. It is remarkable, however, that the position seems to be one of unconditional support including for those who are clearly related by Islamic fundamentalism. See the extrct below which is published on the SWP's Irish website.

Question: how will this affect the political line of the IAWM? Presumably the SWP anti-war front will be expected to tow the line? ... read full story / add a comment
