A five judge panel yesterday returned a two year old child to her natural parents after an appeal which saw the child's removal from the couple whom had adopted her from the age of three months. The Media stated the Judge's decision was based on the primacy of the family within the Irish Constitution. Water is in the process of being privatised by stealth. Citizens must inform themselves regarding the ongoing process to hand our water over to a private multi-national company to make profit and learn from the experiences in other jurisdicitons where privatisation has brought hardship to communities and particulatly to the most vulnerable members. To whom it concerns, I must start off by saying that I approve of the Corrib gas coming ashore. I attended a meeting in Belmullet 30 months ago and I voted for this project to go ahead. There were over 800 people there and all but 5 voted in favour. I later worked on the project at Ballinaboy but no longer do so. ... read full story / add a comment

When the leader of a political party with a track record on social policy like Fianna Fail’s starts talking about children’s rights, it’s time to sit up and be alarmed – particularly so when it is in the vicinity of a general election. Fianna Fail are a party who have perfected the art of claiming to do one thing while in fact doing its opposite.
