I myself lived with Caoimhe in Baghdad and Jenin for 6 months and witnessed her dedication, astonishing courage, love and pain - she is a living breathing piece of Mukhayam Jenin and her understanding of the realities of life in Palestine under occupation is unparallelled for a foreigner. Her voice is authentic and honest and vital and it needs to be heard - please read on and support her ... read full story / add a comment ![]()

"We are not seeking the overthrow or opposition to President Aristide the way the opposition is, that has bought us a great deal of invective," he explained. "On the other hand, we can hardly give marvellous grades to the government performance on a number of areas such as disarmament as we would have wanted." He did point out that President Aristide was not opposed to holding elections and has called for the opposition to use channels open to them to bring about peace in Haiti. He said that the opposition's current stance could take the country to civil war however, President Aristide could prevent this. ************** So it began. But the above is not really true as you probably have guessed. Aristide _must go_, and our governments must pressure him to go. NOW. 500,000 people in Haiti are suffering from malnutrition the situation is critical. ... read full story / add a comment

The post mayday 2004 Europe of 450,000,000 shall see established a very different balance between RC and Lutheran, Calvinist, Humanist, Anglican, and Orthodox than at any point since the collapse of the Hapsburg empire. And in the lead-up the most powerful RC churches are quite obviously attempting to stop any increased "secularisation" which ought be inevitable. We ought now consider the effects on certain rights issues which are very dear to the indymedia family, such as :- "a woman's right to choose", the right to be "gay", the right to "divorce", the right to "sex education", & the right to "secularisation" of both legislature and exectuive and education. ... read full story / add a comment

The policy of ethnic cleansing pursued by the Armenians in the territory of Armenia has been crowned with an absolute result - today not a single Azerbaijani is living in the territory of Armenia. Today, Irish government cuts to supplementary welfare allowance kick in. This will detrimentally effect the already marginalised in society, people who are unemployed, single parents..... and immigrants. After not recieving any sensible answers from the Dept. of Social & Family Affairs, as to WHY the cuts are being introduced, I've come to some conclusions. For their 'sounds like office cowboys' side to the story Phone the Dept. at (01) 704 3000 (warning - be prepared to be put on hold) For my unexpert wild interpretations, here we go... ... read full story / add a comment
