In this interview Chomsky is questioned about his possible misrepresentation in the Irish press just before his speaking tour. Coilín OhAiseadha tracked down the story of Chomsky's misrepresentation by contacing both the journalist and Chomsky to clear up the matter:

We've just heard that a delegation of executives (including four directors) of Shell are going to meet with a select group of TD's in the Dáil on Thursday afternoon.

The delegation will include the delightfully named Dutch former politician Wim Kok.

This meeting is completely outside the mediation process agreed with the government in September.

We will be at the entrance on Kildare Street from 12.15PM -Please join us.

Dignitas was set up in 1998 by Swiss lawyer, Ludwig Minelli, who runs it as a non-profit organisation to assist people whose paliative care is felt to be too ardous and who rather favour euthnasia as an option.

["Dr Michael Irwin said he had provided "advice and encouragement" to five Britons about visiting the Dignitas clinic in Zurich during the past two years. The 74-year-old, who was struck off the medical register last year for obtaining drugs to help a friend die on the Isle of Man, also insisted he was willing to face jail over the issue.
Dr Irwin told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "In the past two years I have given advice and counsel and encouragement to five terminally ill people to go from England over to Dignitas."] read full story / add a comment

At a peace conference in Kuala Lumpur last month, the Kuala Lumpur Global Peace Forum of concerned peoples from all five continents, "outraged over the frequent resort to war", made a declaration to criminalise war.

"Killings in war are as criminal as the killings within societies in times of peace," the signatories, including two former Assistant Secretaries General of the United Nations, declare.

"Public servants and professionals, in particular in the medical, legal, educational and scientific fields, must promote peace and campaign actively against war," they declare, and this doctor wholeheartedly agrees.

Finally, the Forum resolved to establish a permanent Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur to implement the initiativeand to seek the cooperation of NGO's worldwide to achieve its goals. read full story / add a comment

Amer Wreck A
Say it out loud and you’ll get it.

The blurb describes it as Fahrenheit 911 meets Moulin Rouge and it has something for everyone- brilliant comedy about the current US President, fantastic music from 60s, sex and full frontal nudity, and a ‘God’ figure that I think most of us would be happy with! On top of that there’s a strong message about political activism. definitely one to debate in the pub after.

Everyone in limerick should grab the chance to see it. Only till Sat night in Belltable. For those of you unfortunate not to be in Limerick, I hear rumours of a movie version... read full story / add a comment

Factual disputes regarding the ambit of the Tara complex and its definition under current legislation have not been resolved. The testimony of expert witnesses on the discovery of two National monuments at Barronstown and Collierstown disallowed.
The State contends that in fact no national monument was discovered on the 38 sites, nor is there legislation protecting the landscape. Chris. read full story / add a comment
