Verdict on Tara Case.

category dublin | history and heritage | event notice author Tuesday January 24, 2006 21:47author by c murray - TaraWatchauthor email verbalnecessity at yahoo dot comauthor address n/aauthor phone 4978026 Report this post to the editors

The verdict will be delivered today.

Factual disputes regarding the ambit of the Tara complex and its definition under current legislation have not been resolved. The testimony of expert witnesses on the discovery of two National monuments at Barronstown and Collierstown disallowed.
The State contends that in fact no national monument was discovered on the 38 sites, nor is there legislation protecting the landscape. Chris.

Why were two expert opinions disallowed?

Is this case about saving government butts or saving Tara?

The testimony of the expert witnesses was diallowed because it came under 'matters arising',ie new evidence. They were to testify that contrary to the State's evidence that no national monument was discovered ,there were two at barronstown and Collierstown, this would invoke a section 14(a)4 which would mean a complete cessation of works and a new EIS.
The Tara complex is not seen as one under the NMA1930-2004(as amended) and therefore there is no legislative protection for it.Will post a review of the case meeting asap.
